Our Approach
A disciplined, research-led way to allocate to Hedge Funds
Encounter Capital provides bespoke introductory services to a small number of alternative funds. We continually work to better understand the current market conditions and anticipate future demand. A key focus is on fine-tuning our operations, only introducing product which we understand to be relevant to the end investor. We introduce products to both Institutions and Family Offices who are classified as qualified investors under the applicable law.
How we think
We focus on identifying strategies that align with long-term portfolio thinking rather than short-term performance narratives. We apply rigorous market and macro analysis and a structured review of objectives, risk appetite and existing exposures , so that any introductions we make are relevant, efficient and thoughtful without replacing the independent advice you receive from your own professionals.
Manager selection
We review many funds and work with very few. For our own internal selection process, we take managers through a multi-step investment and operational review, including independent checks and careful assessment of the people, culture and alignment behind the numbers.

These internal checks are carried out for Encounter Capital’s purposes only. They do not replace investors’ own due diligence, nor do they constitute an opinion, recommendation or investment advice. Each investor must rely on their own analysis and advisers.
Portfolio fit
Selected managers are chosen for strategies that have historically exhibited lower correlation and different behaviour from traditional markets, and which may contribute to portfolio diversification when used appropriately within a broader asset allocation determined by the investor and their advisers.
Ongoing partnership
Our role is introductory and relationship-driven, not transactional: we facilitate clear communication between managers and investors, while all investment views and decisions remain strictly with investors and their regulated advisers.
